Tabs are a short 8, 12 or 18 inch lead with a knot at the end instead of a handle, designed to give the handler close control of the dog without the hassle of a full-length leash dragging around. It’s like the leash’s little sibling who doesn’t need all the attention but still gets the job done. Tabs are especially useful during off-leash training, obedience work, or in environments where quick, direct handling is needed, like competitions or heel work. They attach to the dog’s collar or harness and allow for immediate, subtle corrections or redirection—think of it as the remote control for your well-trained pup.
